The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has said that it has initiated an investigation into the matter after Redmi Note 4 was widely talked about on social media over the weekend.

A media report stated that the victim Bhavana Suryakiran, a resident of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, was riding his motorcycle over the weekend when the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 allegedly exploded in his pocket, leaving a hole in his thigh.

Suryakiran, who claims to have purchased the phone from Flipkart, intends to file a lawsuit against the company and seek damage compensation, the report added.
