Xiaomi is all set to bring in the next iteration of its entry-level Redmi smartphones, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. The smartphones are expected to come with revised specifications and design over the Redmi 4 variants that are currently the latest budget-friendly Redmi device from Xiaomi.
Specifications, image renders and alleged pricing of the upcoming budget-friendly Redmi smartphones just surfaced on Twitter. Xiaomi’s new entry-level phones. Xiaomi is expected to release all the three phones later this month.
The Redmi 5A is anticipated to come in a metal design similar to the Redmi 4. The façade of the phone will be occupied by a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) display along with three capacitive buttons. Under the lid, the Redmi 5A is supposed to pack quad-core Snapdragon 427 SoC that is a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 425 chipset.
Coming to the memory department, the descendant of the Redmi 4A is going to be offered in two variants – one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and other with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The phone will be available in Rose Gold, Gold, Black and Grey color options. The phone will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on the top.
The Redmi 5 will be available in 16 and 32GB storage variants in Gold and Black color. There is not much information about the features and specifications of the Redmi 5 Plus will be offered in 32GB and 64GB storage options in Gold, Black and Grey color variants.

14 days agoThe base variant, Redmi 5A will come without a fingerprint scanner but the top variant of the smartphone is going to get one. Talking about the optics, the upcoming handset will have a 13MP primary camera at the back and there will be a 5MP selfie shooter at the front.
Connectivity-wise, the Redmi 5A will support 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and all the other usual suspects. A 3000mAh battery is also expected to juice up the Redmi smartphone.
As of now, Xiaomi has not yet announced a specific release date for the Redmi 5A, but rumors indicate that the phone could be launched by the end of this month. Finally coming to the phone’s pricing, the base variant (2GB/16GB) may cost around 599 Yuan (Rs. 5999 approx.) and the phone’s top model could sell for 699 Yuan (Rs. 6999 approx.).
With all the major flagships already launched, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi 5 series and no one knows what it may bring for the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Notably, Redmi 4 has been one of the best selling devices for the company.
