Xiaomi launched the all-new Y series smartphones – Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in India last month. The Y series belonged to the selfie-focused smartphone series and received a good response from customers. And now, the Xiaomi is reportedly again set to launch an all-new series of smartphones in India.
The report came when Manu Kumar Jain, MD, Xiaomi India tweeted a photo saying, “i is coming”. Speculations were made that it is going to be Redmi Note 5 or Redmi 5 Plus or a Mi phone but the rumours are now there are reports that Xiaomi may introduce a whole new smartphone series.
Going by the recent tweet by Jain, it is soon going to launch “Desh ka Smartphone” in India which suggests that it is going to be a budget offering with huge battery life.
According to a report by ibtimes, a fully the functional new smartphone, monikered as Xiaomi R1, was spotted in a subway in China and the eye-catching feature of the mysterious smartphone is that it houses thin bezels on the sides. The display resembles FullView display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
To recall, the Chinese manufacturer is also prepared to launch the successor of its best selling smartphone till date, the Redmi Note 4.
The Xiaomi R1 has beautiful display and is also said to be placed in the mid-range smartphone segment. However, not much information has been revealed by the report but images do reveal that the smartphone will have a Type 2 micro-USB port and two single-grille speakers placed at the bottom.

The Xiaomi R1 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The rear camera is expected to be of 12MP resolution. It will most probably be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625/630 series processor. It will offer an internal storage of 64GB and will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
