  • Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus currently available in China
  • Redmi Note 5 not yet released in China
  • Redmi 5 Plus might get launched in India as Redmi Note 5

All eyes of Indian users are set for the unveiling of Redmi Note 5 and the latest tweets suggest some positive news with respect to it. Xiaomi Product PR, Clinton Jeff has hinted in a recent tweet that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer might unravel a new device in India by the next month. The handset is rumored to be none other than Redmi Note 5, but this would be the same Redmi 5 Plus smartphone that was released in China in December last year with Redmi 5.

Interestingly, as of now, Redmi Note 5 device has not been out in the Chinese market. Furthermore, back in December, a Super Moderator with MIUI stated that the Redmi Note branding might get dropped by Xiaomi, as the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus handsets with the full-screen design were launched by the company. This gives a legitimate support to the speculation that the handset, which could be expected to be rolled out in India by the Chinese company next month will be none other than the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus as Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

Last year in January only the Redmi Note 4 was launched and became the most popular brand in India. As on date, it is one of the best selling smartphones from Xiaomi in India. In fact, it set the record for the company that within 45 days of the unveiling, the handset Redmi Note 4 recorded 1 million sales and now it is January 2018, so one can imagine that Xiaomi might come up with the Redmi Note 5 in India by the next month. It won’t be the first time that Xiaomi would have launched devices under different names in the Indian market. If one may recall, the Redmi Note 5A and Note 5A Prime were unraveled in India as Redmi Y1 Lite and Redmi Y1.
