Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China at an event in Beijing on Thursday. The phones fall under budget smartphone segment and are cheapest bezel-less phones till date. Both phones house similar configuration despite of some prominent difference including the display size and the processor.
Xiaomi follows the 18:9 display trend in both the devices and has introduced a wide screen effect. The phone also comes with front LED flash and has been launched in China for now. There is no information about the launch of Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in other countries.
Xiaomi Redmi 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Price
The Redmi 5 has been launched in two variants – 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage priced at CNY 799 (approx. Rs 7,800) and CNY 899 (approx. Rs 8,800). The Redmi 5 Plus also comes in two storage variants – 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs 9,700) and CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs 12,700).
Xiaomi Redmi 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Specifications
The Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi 5 Plus comes with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The former is powered by Snapdragon 430 while the latter is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor and come with 2GB and 3GB, and 3GB and 4GB RAM variants respectively.
Camera setup on both the phones are similar. There is a 12MP sensor on the rear thewith 1.25-micron pixel sensor and flash. There is a 5MP camera sensor on the front with a soft-light selfie flash. The camera also comes with Beautify 3.0 app.
