Xiaomi Ends Software Support For Six Smartphones Following MIUI 9 Rollout

Xiaomi has listed six popular devices on its forum for which the company will be suspending the MIUI updates. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer released the the updated version of Android skin, MIUI 9. The company has clarified that Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime and Mi Note will receive the MIUI 9 as their stable ROM. The company on its forum confirmed that the latest move and mentioned that this will the last MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.11 is last update for all those devices.

The company will be rolling out the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for these phone gradually which will be made available as an OTA release starting this December.

Xiaomi’s forum noted, “MIUI ROM has been updated regularly ever since its first version was released. And MIUI Team has been committed to providing the best experience to users of all devices. Therefore, MIUI performance is constantly improved to deliver a better and better system experience to all users. However, to ensure the best performance of MIUI, we have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc.”
