WhatsApp has announced that BlackBerry OS, Blackberry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 or older devices will not be able to run the application from December 31, 2017. The chat giant gave the information in a blogpost that it will end support on these devices less than a week from now.
WhatsApp had earlier extended support for both platforms in June. WhatsApp had earlier revealed that the app will also stop working on phones that are running on Nokia S40 from December 31, 2018 and Symbian S60 from June, 2017.
The app will also stop working on phones running on Android Gingerbread from February 1, 2020. The chat giant also ended support for Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and iOS6 back in 2016.
In case the you are using devices running on both these operating systems and want to use WhatsApp properly then you need to upgrade to a newer phone.
It has been a marvelous year for internet-based chat platform as it reached count of 1 Billion daily active users worldwide. Recently, it launched a standalone application for business named “WhatsApp for Business” giving a formal route to conduct business on the app.
