WhatsApp Business App Launched By Facebook For Small Businesses

WhatsApp Business app aimed to help the small businesses in connecting with their customers has recently been unveiled by Facebook on Wednesday as part of its ‘WhatsApp for Business’ initiative, which was introduced in September 2017 officially. This new app is now available for free and can be downloaded through Google Play but in some specific countries like the US, UK, Indonesia, Italy and Mexico and has risen the hopes of small business users all across the globe.

With 1.3 billion WhatsApp users, this app will now make the life of small companies easier as now they can connect immediately with their clients. In fact, Facebook-owned WhatsApp has also come up with some interesting features in the app that will certainly provide the users with useful information like any important email or store addresses, information about any website and business description etc.

Apart from this, the app users will also be able to exploit smart messaging tools, thereby saving the time with quick replies. This will offer instant answers to FAQs, messages showing that you are engaged in some other work or meeting, greeting messages, which will invite the customers of the businesses to understand their working process.

Although the app is currently free of cost but the Facebook executive who joined WhatsApp last year, in an interview with Reuters, has made the intentions of the company clear about the future, the businesses could be charged for the app. Hence, one can understand that this is a step to see how the business app is received by the users. It is important to note at this point that WhatsApp faces challenges from WeChat as well as Facebook’s Messenger and other messaging services.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has made it clear that initially businesses will be listed as a Business Account and later on they will have Confirmed Accounts after all the account phone number and the business phone number gets matched. As far as the regular users are concerned, they can resume using WhatsApp just like before.

In an official statement, WhatsApp has cited a Morning Consult study and claimed that over 80% of small businesses in India and Brazil communicate with clients in order to flourish their business. Also, 84 percent of SMBs believe that the messaging app helps them in communicating with their customers, and 80% of SMBs have an impression that WhatsApp supports them in growing their business.

In India, WhatsApp business app was tested with businesses like BookMyShow and MakeMyTrip and will be made available when it will be launched, globally. Interestingly, the app with a special version for Apple’s iPhone platform will be launched by the WhatsApp later on.
