While there are various rumours of who would be launched the under-display fingerprint sensor first, a recent report by Forbes claims that it would be Vivo which will introduce the first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Forbes reported that Synaptics has made an announcement with Vivo that is figured out how to integrate the fingerprint sensor in a smartphone display. The integrated fingerprint scanner will operate in a fast and secure manner. The in-display fingerprint sensor is a much-rumoured technology that even the big companies are having time to make it possible.
The integrated fingerprint sensor is the need of the hour as bezel-less displays are the new trend in the smartphone market. Placing the fingerprint sensor on the rear is vaguely generic. It also becomes a blunder if you try to make your device different in term so rarely placed fingerprint sensor as seen on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
Apple reportedly had ditch the TouchID entirely as it could not integrate fingerprint sensor in the display and came with facial recognition that it called FaceID. The new technology will activate the sensor only when needed for saving battery. To unlock the phone, users will have to touch the display to activate fingerprint sensor and unlock the phone. The fingerprint sensor will then disappear.
The rear mounted fingerprint sensor can give you a really hard time sometimes as you can touch the camera sensor and make it smudgy. The rear camera sensor was the only complaint that users had with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and S8 and S8+.
It is very intriguing as efforts were being made since very long to integrate the fingerprint sensor into the display and no one had ever imagined that Vivo will be the first to introduce the technology.
