Samsung To Improve Iris Scanning Technology In The Upcoming Galaxy S9

Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are expected to be announced during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 scheduled to commence in Vegas in February.

The phone has already been subjected to various leaks suggesting the design and specifications of the phone.

Now, a new report by the Korean Herald claims that the South Korean giant is looking to improve the iris scanning technology to make it safer.

Biometric passwords are replacing the numeric passwords with a very fast speed, be it fingerprint scanner, facial recognition in iPhone X or iris scanner. The improved iris scanning will make the phone safer banking transactions and other aauthentication.

Korean Herald quoted an unnamed Samsung source close to pubilcation, “The iris camera lens will be improved to 3 megapixels from 2 megapixels of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 to capture clearer images. The scanner will better recognise users’ irises even when they wear eyeglasses, move their eyeballs or are in a too dark or too light environment.” There is will also be a reduction in response time of the scanner.
