The South Korean tech giant launched the Samsung Galaxy S8 series last year in April and now after a year, the company launched a burgundy color variant of the smartphone in India on Monday. Earlier, the phones were available in Maple Gold and Midnight Black color variants and, then the company came out with an Orchid Grey variant of the phone as well.
Even after the launch of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ last month, the company still launched the Burgundy red color variant of the phone. The reason being, as the company puts it, the Galaxy S8 “continues to be a bestseller” till date. Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India said, “The Burgundy Red edition of Galaxy S8 will wow consumers and allow them to express their own personal style.”
Galaxy S8 comes powered by the Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo now. The Galaxy S8 series comes fitted with a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity Display that is a dual-edge curved display and has an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Coming with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, the phone has a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB).
The Galaxy S8 also sports 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ rear cameras that have optical image stabilization. The front camera is of 8-megapixel with autofocus. The phone’s battery is of 3000mAh and has wireless and fast charging.
The prices of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were cut down this month. Making the S8 64GB model worth Rs 49,990. The price of the Burgundy Red variant is the same as well. Whereas the Galaxy S8+ 64GB model is for Rs 53,990 and the 128GB storage option costs Rs 64,900. There is a cashback offer of Rs 10,000 if you buy the phone via Paytm at the retail store. The new Burgundy Red phone will be available to buy from April 13.
