Samsung Bixby Update Expected To Launch On August 23

Similar to Apple’s Siri and Google’s Voice Assistant, Samsung introduced its voice command system in its recent flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. And just ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch, the company may roll out the update for its Voice Assistant, Samsung Bixby by Wednesday. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users will be able to use the feature for now. The South Korean phone maker has also rolled out the updates for a number of their default apps yesterday.

The Bixby voice capabilities are already available in the US as part of an optional beta test and Samsung had claimed that feedback has led to improved comprehension, faster response times and better hands-free operation.

There is a dedicated Bixby button located on the side of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, which allows users to activate it. Similar to ‘Hey Siri’, this feature can also be activated by saying “Hi Bixby”. This voice command feature can handle alarms, send texts and perform few other activities.

The move can prove to be very crucial for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, which is due for launch on August 23. Bixby had suffered negative feedback for not being fully as versatile as its competitors. However, the new update may just turn the tables in favour of Samsung. An official statement is yet to be made by Samsung inspiring confidence that Bixby voice command will be completely functional this time.
