- Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL to launch on October 4
- A live YouTube streaming was done by Google as a tease
- The devices could cost even more than their predecessors
Google is all set to launch its new smartphones, the Google Pixel 2 and the Google Pixel 2 XL. But the company somehow hasn’t made up its mind as to when it will actually start selling its awaited phones. Recently, however, the company streamed a live video on YouTube and teased its upcoming smartphone. But seeing a 16-day countdown in the video wasn’t a pretty sight. The company has also sent out invitations to journalists for its launch event that is to be on October 4.
But will all this advertising and waiting would be enough to keep the users interested in the Pixel 2 when the iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8 have already come in the picture? Google’s Pixel was a huge success and if anything, it seems Google is sure that the successors of its already famous phone will also sell in crazy numbers and that it could lack the inventory to match the demanded.
The set launch date is a good idea as this marks the one-year anniversary of the Pixel. But there are still two weeks to October 4 and by then iPhone X pre-orders will begin and people will focus on the rival phones only rather than the Pixel 2, so it seems.
Just like their predecessors, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have high-end specs. Rumors suggest that the smaller of the two devices could sport a 4.97-inch display with Full HD resolution and 4 GB of RAM. According to an FCC listing, the phone will run Android 8.0.1 Oreo and will come with an “Active Edge” feature that would presumably work the same way as HTC U11’s Edge Sense. This means that you will be able to perform various tasks such as opening an app just by squeezing the sides of your smartphone.

3 days agoGoogle Pixel series last year seemed unaffordable. The Pixel launched at Rs 32,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs44,000 for the 128GB variant. While the XL variant retailed for Rs 54,000 for 32GB and Rs 63,000 for 128 GB. We can now just hope that the upcoming smartphones will be somewhat affordable, unlike last year. But this likely won’t happen. Rumors are that the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 could carry a premium price tag and is either going to cost the same or even more than their forerunners.
Whatsoever happens. All we can say is- Google please launch the next generation Pixels already!!
