Some new and striking things have been revealed by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in an interview with CNET. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is planning to release the OnePlus 6 by June, 2018. Although, the name of the device has not been confirmed by Lau, but one thing is certain that OnePlus 6T may not get unveiled this year. Interestingly, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa-core processor. According to Lau, this step of embracing Snapdragon 845 SoC is more of a trend in new flagship devices that the Shenzhen based company needs to go with.
The successor of Snapdragon 835, the Snapdragon 845 processor is the second-generation 10nm chipset, which was recently unveiled by the Qualcomm in the early January. Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, HTC and many other smartphone manufacturing companies have made it clear that they will be going with Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Furthermore, OnePlus is planning to extend its market in the US in 2018 and that is why it might be launching its devices through the local carriers. It is important to note that approximately 85 percent to 90 percent users in the U.S. buy smartphones with the help of the local carriers. For this, the Chinese company will be initiating talks with wireless operators in the U.S.
Nothing has been officially stated on this step by the OnePlus, but it is expected that OnePlus could go with this strategy. This way OnePlus could make its handsets reach the users in the US easily. If one may recall, earlier OnePlus saved money by sellings its devices via invitation system. Under this system, the users were contacted through invitation system and the devices were manufactured with respect to the number of invitations received by the customers. Only time will tell how much OnePlus is able to woo US users, but as of now Indian users may wait for the unveiling of OnePlus 6.
