HMD Global’s anticipated flagship Nokia 9 has been in rumors for some time now and has even been spotted multiple times. All earlier outings revealed the phone running Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS but when the device was spotted this time on the Geekbench listing, it was shown running Android Oreo. This indeed is interesting news.
According to the Geekbench listing, Nokia 9 is anticipated to run on Android Oreo when launched. Apart from this, the other specifications that have surfaced through the listing are mostly what we already know (the rumors) about the device. The dual rear camera setup could have at least one (or two) shooter bearing a 12-megapixel sensor with 4K video recording capabilities. The listing also shows a 12-megapixel front camera capable of recording 4K UHD videos. In earlier reports however, the rear camera setup was alleged to have two 13-megapixel sensors with LED flash. The cameras will come with Zeiss branding as is rumored.
Nokia 9 is also anticipated to sport a QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display. According to the earlier leaks, the phone’s display size was said to be 5.5-inch. On the contrary, the new listing showcases a screen size of either 5.2-inch or 5.3-inch. In addition, the much-hyped smartphone is also revealed to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SOC coupled with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 540 GPU and 64GB inbuilt storage.
Earlier reports, however, suggested that there could be more than one RAM/storage variant, i.e., 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Among the other features that are expected to come in the Nokia 9 include a fingerprint scanner, an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, a Quick Charge support and an iris scanner as well. The previous leaks also suggest that Nokia 9 will be the first Nokia device to feature ‘Nokia OZO Audio’ enhancements.
The price tag for the Nokia 9 was also leaked a little while ago and the smartphone is expected to be sold at Rs. 44,999 in India. What’s interesting to note is that the smartphone will be priced at $699. This means that the Indian buyers will be getting the flagship Nokia 9 at a lesser price as compared to the other markets.
Nokia 9 is a premium category smartphone with all the high-end specifications. HMD Global has made any official statements regarding the smartphone and its launch date so far though. What we know, mostly is through leaks and rest are rumors. But some news is better than no news when stakes are high and excitement is sky rocketing.
