LG V30 IFA Launch: Specifications And More

The much-anticipated LG V30 has finally made its debut at IFA 2017 on Thursday. LG Electronics unveiled the device, alongside a higher storage variant V30+. Both the device feature a FullVision bezel-less display as well as a 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC, something not seen in any other device till date. Other standout features of the device include IP68 certification and dual-camera setup on the rear.

The LG will start shipping the V30 in its home market, South Korea from September 21, while the global roll out of the device is expected afterwards. The company will offer the device Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Cold Silver and Lavender Violet colour variants. The company has not revealed as to what the device will cost.

The LG V30 features one of its kind 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display with a screen resolution of 1440×2880 pixels with a pixel density of 538 pixels per inch. The aspect ratio of the device is 18:9, which is considered very good in term of viewing angles and detailing. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is coupled with 4GB RAM to provide a lag free experience.

The LG V30 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box and expects to get the Android Oreo soon. It also has a smaller always-on screen, which is situated on the right above the main display, similar to its predecessor LG V20. The device also supports daydream compatibility.

In terms of optics, the device sports a dual camera setup at the back – one 16-megapixel sensor with a 71-degree wide-angle lens and a first ever f/1.6 aperture – one 13-megapixel sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and an aperture of f/1.9. It is the first device to sport a camera with f/1.6 aperture, which allows more light to enter through the lenses providing sharper and more detailed pictures. To add a cherry on top, the device is also stacked with Crystal Clear Lens, adding to the process of correct colour reproduction and clearer images. There is a 5-megapixel front selfie shooter with a 90-degree wide-angle-lens and an aperture of f/2.2.

The LG V30 offers an in-built storage of 64GB, while it higher memory version, the LG V30+ packs 128GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. On connectivity front, LG V30 includes 4g LTE, Bluetooth v5.0 BLE, USB Type-c 3.0 and NFC support. To keep all of this running the device is packed with a 3300mAh battery, which also features Quick Charging 3.0, to juice your battery for full day usage really fast.

Now coming to a feature ‘unseen in any smartphone before’, the South Korean giant will provide a customisable sound experience featuring 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC technology powered by Ess Technology’s SABRE ES9218P. This means the device is capable of streaming high-resolution audio. The HD audio recording facility will allow the smartphone to record both loud and quiet sounds with great clarity.

Notably, the company claims to have been able to cut the distortion down to 0.0002 per cent. The wider audio paths allow the device to process more audio data without any lag and with greater efficiency.

As intrigued as we are, it is difficult to wait for the phone LG to start shipping its highly promising device, LG V30. The device will directly compete with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Moto G5s Plus and the upcoming Apple iPhone 8, which is expected to launch on September 12.
