iPhone 8, 8 Plus And iPhone X Edition Expected From September 12 Event

If there is something we have been looking forward to over the past 10 years, it is the launch event by Apple. 10 years of mesmerising people with new technology and great features every single time you come up with something, you’d think one would get tired but not Apple. The tenth anniversary of the iPhone is within a few days and apple is all set to make us happier. But what’s in store for us? Well, apparently three new iPhones and an Apple watch. However, the two iPhones will just be iterative updates of the previous edition. The phone to look forward to however is the anniversary edition that is rumoured to be called the iPhone X Edition while the others are to be called the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The new iPhone is, of course, going to be a charmer with its rear glass body that Apple decided to do away with after iPhone 4.

Sources also claim that the iPhone X Edition will sport a stainless steel chassis and is expected to feature a radical redesign with an edge-to-edge bezel-less display. There will be no physical Home button and there will only be a small area for the front-facing camera. It is said that the iPhone will support Qi wireless charging while being compatible with all the current Qi chargers.

The previous reports had claimed that September 12 will witness the launch of three devices iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The former two devices were speculated to be an upgraded version while the iPhone was reported to be the anniversary special device by the company. We were led to believe that the upcoming devices will include upgraded iPhone 7 variants and iPhone 8 with a bezel-less display. But, 9to5Mac’s Seth Weintraub now claims to have seen one very popular case maker’s updated packaging artwork too. It seems that the case maker has even changed its internal SKUs based on the new information received straight from Shenzhen. The three devices are now mocked as iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X Edition.

The sources also claim that the iPhones will sport a Lightning port, however, a switch to USB-C in the near future is expected. With the new design, the iPhone 8 could be similar in size with a 5.8-inch display with 5.15 inches of functional area and the rest dedicated to virtual space that is replacing the home button. The display is said to be a flexible OLED rather than an LCD which will make the device consume less power and offer better display, higher contrast ratio and true to life colours.

The iPhone X Edition is expected to cost around a $1,000 making it pretty expensive than previous iPhones. All the three models are expected to be available in just three colours – gold, silver and black.

There are a lot of rumours and a lot of speculations. But we still have to wait until September 12 for the launch. Streaming live from the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus for the first time, this is going to be one amazing event.
