Days after Google launched the eighth iteration of the Android software, Android Oreo, HTC has already confirmed that some of its handsets will be getting this update soon. While Google Pixel and Pixel XL are getting the Android O update immediately after the official launch on Monday, HTC has also confirmed the update in its current flagship device, HTC U11 as well as HTC U Ultra and HTC 10 will happen soon.
HTC USA, replying to a tweet, stated, “We are excited to bring Android Oreo to HTC U11, HTC U Ultra and HTC 10 owners worldwide! Details & Additional devices to be announced soon.” Now with HTC already announcing Android O update for three of its devices, it is for us to wait and watch for when the company delivers its promise.
The HTC U11 is the premium high-end smartphone by the company with the ability to record 1080p resolution videos at 60fps and also supports the latest Bluetooth version, 5.0.
The biggest highlight of the phone is the brand new “squeezable” Edge Sense feature. The feature allows users to perform several actions by just squeezing the device. Other specifications of the smartphone include a 5.5-inch LCD5 display with 1440×2560 pixels, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The HTC U11 is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU. The phone sports 12MP rear camera sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 16MP camera sensor up front with f/2.0 aperture. The device offers 6GB RAM and an internal storage of 128GB. The battery capacity is of 3,000mAh capable of delivering a talk-time of up to 24 hours and a standby of up to 336 hours. The phone is water and dust resistant and supports wireless charging as well.
The HTC U11 is the flagship smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer and competes with OnePlus 5 and Samsung S8. If the company manages to release the Android O update, as promised, it will surely have the edge over other devices in the given price segment.
