The users will be able to enjoy Android 8.1 Oreo update in Nokia 2, as HMD Global Chief Product officer Juho Sarvikas tweeted this piece of information on Thursday. The cheapest handset from Nokia was unveiled in October globally at EUR 99 and was released in late November at Rs. 6,999 in India with Android 7.1 Nougat. Interestingly, this Android 8.1 Oreo update will only bring improvement in the performance of the Nokia 2, thereby enhancing its sale.
Furthermore, the tweet also gave an idea that the device will be receiving from Google’s Android Go programme some type of memory management, which was expected to debut on Nokia 1. However, nothing could be said with certainty that when the update will be introduced into the device. Nonetheless, one can expect it to be executed by the first quarter of next year.
The handset Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch LTPS HD display with screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor with 1GB of RAM. Strikingly, it is also accompanied with four cores of ARM Cortex-A7 CPU at 1.3GHz. As far as the camera is concerned, the phone carries an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor alongside an LED flash. Even the front camera is not bad at this range with a 5-megapixel sensor. The massive non-removable battery of 4000mAh can deliver power backup for two days on a single charge.
