Google Assistant For iPhone Comes To India, UK, France And Germany

The iPhone app version of Google Assistant, which was released earlier this year during the Google I/O developer conference. The Google’s digital assistant for iPhone was restricted to the United States at the time of launch, but Google, on Saturday announced that it will bring it for iPhone devices in the UK, Germany and France.

As per the reports by the Engadget, users were unable to assign Google Assistant to the Home button, in an attempt to replace Siri. However, the Google Assistant Widget can be added. The app is now available in India as well.

Users with iOS 9.1 or later will be able to use the Google Assistant app. The app is listed to support French, German, Japanese and Portuguese as per the App Store listings. While, the app is now available in the UK and India, as per iTunes app, which confirms availability in the country.

The app can be accessed from the widget panel of Apple’s notification centre and is capable of initiating calls, provide answers or translations, tell sport scores, set timers, find nearby places, define any word, flight status,schedule tasks, look up for stock prices, food nutrition, news, remember information that you throw at it and a lot more than just this. The app is 137MB on the App Store.

There are certain restrictions to the tasks performed by the Google Assistant, due to which there is a lot that it cannot do. Apple’s Siri by far the best digital assistant app in the market today. With Siri getting the priority on iPhone, Google Assistant will remain as a widget and would never be its true home.

The digital assistant is a major part of Google Home, a network-centered smart speaker, which is Google’s answer to Amazon Echo Dot. It can be used to answer queries to perform requests of users. The Apple has also announced that it will join the smart speaker market with Siri-enabled HomePod, which is expected to be priced at $349.
