Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Gionee has unveiled a new X series smartphone ‘Gionee X1s’ in India. The latest device houses some unique features in the form of fingerprint sensor, big battery, three separate slots for SIM and storage and a selfie camera. Tagged at INR 12,999, the new X series smartphone will be retailed across the country from Thursday, September 21. Made available in Black and Gold colors, the Gionee X1s sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel selfie-focused camera with flash. Last month, Gionee launched X1 smartphone in the country, while the new X1s is seen as a more enhanced version of the same.

Similar to the predecessor, the new Gionee X1s too comes bundled with host of offers from Airtel. Any Airtel customers who purchases X1s handset will be eligible for up to 10GB additional data each month for up to 6 subsequent recharges of 1GB or more. Besides this, on purchase of every Gionee X1s customer will be entitled for 2 Paytm cash back voucher codes of INR 250 cash back, which can be redeemed on purchase of minimum INR 350 from Paytm Mall.

Powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor, the latest X series device runs on Android Nougat operating system with Gionee’s indigenous custom UI Amigo 4.0 running over it. The X1s is wrapped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which expandable up to 256GB via micro SD card. Gionee X1s features a 5.2-inch IPS HD display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, while the screen resolution comes at 1280×720 pixels. In addition to the 16-megapixel selfie camera with front flash and 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Gionee X1s also comprises of plus points like beautified video and face beauty 2.0.

The connectivity aspect comes in the form of 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, dual-SIM, 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB port. The Gionee X1s measures 150.4 x 73.5 x 8.8 mm and weighs 166 grams and is driven by a large 4000mAh battery.

The new offering to the budget smartphone industry by the Chinese manufacturer will compete with the already best-seller of the segment, Redmi Note 4. The specifications of the smartphone look decent and a massive battery may prove to be a game-changer for Gionee.
