Samsung launched its flagship device Galaxy Note 8 in India today. The device was unveiled by the South Korean giant globally at the Galaxy Note 8 Unpack Event on August 23. The company started taking the pre-bookings for the flagship smartphone in India from September 3. The company claims to have registered a record 2.5 lakh registrations by any Note smartphone ever. The company will start delivering the device from September 21 with few exciting launch offers.
Galaxy Note 8 Specifications Recap
The device features a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display that looks both stunning and responsive. Galaxy Note 8’s design is almost similar to that of Galaxy S8+. The cinematic screen provides impeccable movie watching experience. The edge-to-edge design provides steeper viewing angles and is a game changer. The dual window allows users to perform two tasks at a time seamlessly.
The two sided curved back panel fits comfortably in the palm. The signature feature of the Galaxy Note devices, the S pen has seen the accessory upgrade in the Note 8 and also added many features to the device related to it. The S Pen allows you to take Notes even when the smartphone is in standby mode.
As far as the camera is confirmed, the Galaxy Note 8 is the first smartphone from Samsung to feature a dual-camera setup. Though there is no official information about the exact specifications of the camera setup, it is expected that there will be two 12MP sensors with a wide-angle camera sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. Both the lenses support OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). The biggest highlight of device’s camera it that the company has added a few new features to the dual camera setup including the Live Focus. The Live Focus feature allows the user to select the area of focus and blur the rest to provide the Bokeh mode to the photo, before and after capturing the photo.
The smartphone comes with massive 6GB RAM and features 64GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable up to 256GB with the help of a microSD card. The phone also supports wireless charging and has been launched in two colour variants including Midnight Black and Maple Gold. The Galaxy Note 8 is IP68 certified, which means it will be water resistant. In addition, Note 8 comes with Pair App feature, similar to recent flagships from LG Xiaomi, which allows a user to open two applications simultaneously. The device will come with Bixby Voice support in few weeks that has been optimised according to the Indian accent. There is an Iris scanner also to better protect the device.
Price And Availability In India
The device went for pre-orders from September 3 and the delivery will start from September 21. The smartphone has been priced at a price of Rs 67,000. The Galaxy Note will be made available in selected retail stores, Samsung India official website and Amazon India. The initial buyers will get the free-screen replacement facility and free wireless charging with the device. A discount of Rs 4,000 will be provided to users purchasing the device using the HDFC Credit Card. There is also a double data offers for Relaince Jio users. The company claims to have made record number of pre-bookings for Galaxy Note 8 than any other Note device by the company ever. It also claims to own 68% of total market share in the premium smartphone segment. It is for us to wait and watch what new milestones Note 8 will bring for the South Korean giant.
