Chinese phone maker TCL launched its highly anticipated Android Smartphone-BlackBerry Motion at Gitex in Dubai on Sunday. This is the second device launched by TCL since it acquired rights to the BlackBerry brand last year. This device is the company’s attempt to get a slice of the market share with Blackberry’s iconic brand name. BlackBerry Motion is a little like the ‘KEYone’ smartphone that was launched by the company earlier this year.

BlackBerry Motion was initially thought to be called Krypton. The device is an all-touchscreen smartphone with no QWERTY keypad, unlike its predecessor. It comes with a 5.5-inch LCD IPS (720×1280 pixels) touch-screen display with DragonTrail Glass protection and a fingerprint scanner placed at the bottom that doubles up as the home button. The BlackBerry Motion is a mid-range dual-SIM Android 7.1.1 Nougat smartphone.

The phone also has Quick Charge 3.0 support and a USB Type-C port. In a conversation with Engadget, F Mahieu, head of global sales for TCL said that the company hopes that many iPhone and Galaxy users would switch to BlackBerry Motion with its launch.

BlackBerry Motion is the first BlackBerry phone to come with IP67 rating. This implies that the phone can easily survive up to 3.3 meters underwater for nearly 30 minutes. The phone also comes with a unique feature called as the Convenience Key. The feature is to act as a shortcut access to four options- Home, Car, Office and User.

Coming to the phone’s pricing, the Blackberry Motion being a mid-range Android smartphone, will be sold firstly in the middle eastern nations at a price of $460 (Rs 30,000 approx.). However, there is no announcement for the phone’s availability in the Indian market as of yet.
