Highlights
- Available in iOS 11 beta 6 version as well
- Pressing power button five times will deactivate touch id
- Disabling touch id will let passcode unlock the phone only
One of the most interesting features of an iPhone is unlocking the phone by just the finger/thumb impression. Adding this unique personal id to your account lets you save it for not only unlocking the phone but also to initiate the download/purchase process at App Store, which is called your Touch ID.
But Apple, in its new update iOS 11 lets you deactivate your Touch ID. This is an outcome of those several incidents of the Law Enforcement Agencies forcing users to unlock their phones with their Touch ID which, according to the law, is legal. But compelling someone to reveal the phone passcode for that sake is not. Hence, Apple iOS 11 lets you disable your Touch ID by pressing the power button five times, and the ‘call for help’ appears on your screen, right away.
@alt_kia demonstrated how to press the power button five times in a row to not only enable new screen with an emergency call option but also to let the phone ask for the passcode to unlock instead of Touch ID. This way you can avail the advantages out of the provided privacy and security features and can limit the drawback when needed.
iOS 11 is a game-changer for Touch ID. Press power button rapidly 5 times and it opens the 2nd screen, but it also forces passphrase entry! pic.twitter.com/uvWbM04lyk

Precisely, US citizens are the majority of all which would be relieved by this iOS 11 boon, being the ones to be worn-out too often by the local patrol and border police. This ‘Cop Button’ can be tested by the users having iOS 11 beta version installed while Apple is about to bring out another new security feature for unlocking the phone with face detection. This might prove to be much more beneficial with having the new ‘Cop Button’ to use as a security feature whenever needed and to cut their functionality off if needed to be.
