  • Google Photos now comes with “Pet recognition” feature
  • The App can sort out the images of your pet and group them in a folder
  • Users with multiple similar looking pets might face an issue

Way back in 2015, Google photos came out with the feature of identifying a specific person out of your photo library. This helped us to group out the memorable pictures of our loved ones amongst the jumbled photo gallery. This time Google has decided to take this feature a step ahead.

This year Google photos announced that it can now sort out the images of your pet and group them together into a single folder. Hence, we don’t need to search for “cat” or “dog” if you feel like looking at a picture of your pet dog “Oreo”. All you need to do is give a name to your pet before using the app, let’s say “Oreo” and next time when you type his name, the app will sort out all the images related to “Oreo”.

Google

This is not all, Google photos also help you to sort out the images by typing the pet’s breed and allows you to look for images using a cat/dog emoji.

Earlier this year, Google introduced a feature of creating cool cat and dog videos from the pictures saved in your gallery. Now you can also go ahead and start making your own videos with this new “Pet recognition” feature from Google photos. All you need to do is select the Photo group folder of your pet and tap on ‘+’ to create a video. You can also create a photo-book of your own using the same technique. In addition to that, you get six pet related songs and pictures to choose from that will make your video more interesting.

However, Google during an interview with Buzzfeed says, “This is just the start. If you have a number of pets that are the same breed (such as a few yellow Labs), you might need to help the app by removing photos of a mis-grouped pet, so the app can tell Lassie from Fido.” Hence, users might face a slight issue if they are having images of multiple similar looking pets.

But we are sure that Google is working on resolving this issue. This amazing feature is expected to roll out today for the users across the world.
