HTC U11 is an amazing phone comes with a touted “Edge Sense” feature for performing actions by squeezing your phone. It hasn’t exactly been a sales driving feature though. But all that will hopefully change today. With an update that’s coming out now, U11 users will be able to customize their Edge Sense to perform specific actions in specific apps.
The primary thing that the updated Edge Sense will control is that it will allow you to set up your own per-app squeeze actions. You go to the Edge Sense controls, select the to add a new app option, you will then get an overlay that will help you set up a tap or a double-tap anywhere on the screen.
HTC officially announced the new features in a blog post. The company said that the Edge Sense beta, “is an opt-in program that will continue to grow as we look to perfect this experience.” HTC also uploaded a video showing off the new features of the update.
While concerns about its specification, it is fitted with a 2.45GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. The phone has 128GB internal storage, which can be expanded upto 2000GB through microSD card. It runs on Android 7.1 and featured with 3000mAh battery, which cannot be removed. For the high-quality photos, it comes with 12MP, photo detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED flash camera at the rear and 16 MP camera at the front. Both the cameras work magnificently and provide amazing and high-quality pictures.
It’s hard to see every U11 owner going in and setting up this distinct squeeze function for dozens of apps, but it undeniably makes sense to spend a few minutes to set up the squeeze for your most frequently used functions in apps. Squeeze to maybe zoom in on books, compose a post or open a shopping app it can be very useful but only if you can remember which squeeze is for what function.
